Cockle Bay (Marlborough) 2015 Pinot GrisReview written for Cockle Bay (Marlborough) Pinot Gris

Alas, I cannot give first-person review as I really am not a fan of pinot's. However - my darling mum, for whom I purchased this wine - thought it a very fine, tasty pinot gri! The positives: Mum rated it for me on taste, colour, general slurpability and when she would drink it. Taste - no better, but def no worse than most pinot's. Colour - all I got was she liked it lol. Slurpability and when she would drink it. Easy to drink and anytime between 5pm and end of dinner. Now as I was the one pouring the wine, I saw that she was drinking this a bit faster than the last pinot I purchased, so I'm going to take that as a very positive slurpable result! Negatives: I don't drink pinot's so can't enjoy the wine. Oh well,at least a thumbs up and buy more from mum!

Fantastic for the price. It's exactly the wine it says it is

I keep coming back and purchasing more - this is a wonderfully rich smooth wine, punching well above it's price. The only complaint is that Winesale's rang me when we were half way through a bottle - so I spent more buying more! But damn, so so worth it.

A good middle-of-the-road Cab Sav. Has enough complexity to satisfy the fussy tastes, and is easy on the palet for the rest of us lol. I like it, and I'm buying more. Good value for the rather low price

Oooooo - are you serious about the price? Mmmmmm damn this is smooth. A mellow merlot, slides down wit a richness that should not be able to be bought at this ridiculously low price. Oh yeah, heading back for more. You want a wine buffs blurb about tanins and plums and all that? Nope - just trust me - buy this wine if you like smooth fruity Merlot's.

Very nice, I was one of the return customers!

Very, very good wine - interesting how different people rate the wines. I've drunk this wine with BBQ, lamb, chicken, just as a pleasant afternoon quaff. This is a tasty all-rounder (in regards to my tastes!) My friends with a variety of of tastes have all enjoyed this wine. 10 outa 10 and I'm buying more!

Great bouquet and awesome palet.... Yeah right, all those fancy words that I really don't understand. What I DO know is that this is quite exceptional for the price. Not a "simple" little wine to sip on a hot summers day, more of a during the barbie kinda thing. Damn, this is good!!!!! Buy it.

This wine was good value for the price. Not a great deal different of other budget Cab Shiraz available, but enough to keep on the "to-buy" list. Fantastic for a quaff of red on a summers afternoon.

This is an outstanding Cab-Merlot for the price. A lot of the cheaper wines are a little sharp, this However is smooth, rich and velvety. High on my list of purchasing again.

A $10 bottle of bubbles that is surprisingly good! I bought it for the Aunties, but must admit to hiding a couple of bottles away after my first taste. Slightly sweeter than I would normally like, but in no way is this one of those horrible sickly cheap bottles of plonk - this is great! Good enough for me to purchase more for the christmas break, and hopefully beyond.

Damn good red for the price. It has that wonderful 'sharp' quality I like in a Shiraz. Certainly doesn't come from the the top end, however I enjoyed this a cheaper daily drink with dinner. I'll buy it again.

Once again a wine from the cheaper side o' the cellar. Accept it for what it is - a cheap red. It's a bit thin, but has reasonable taste. Add it to your experience of the cheaper reds, there are a lot out there and they all have unique qualities.

This is a middle-of-the-road Cab Merlot. While it doesn't have the complexity and richness of it's more expensive rivals, it certainly pleases the palette for very little dosh! I'm not a wine expert, so I don't use terms like nose, bouquet, chocolate notes etc, but I know what I like. This is a great wine from the cheaper side of life, and is a welcome addition to my wine rack.
