It's not often you get a straight cab that has the refined richness of this beauty at any price, let alone sub $20. Good with anything!

Argentinian malbec is our new favourite wine, always great with BBQs and roasts. This one is at the balanced/refined end of the spectrum, a bit like a heavier version of a good chianti maybe. A bargain.

Estola (Spain) Crianza 2006Review written for Estola (Spain) Crianza (Product not available at this time)

Here's a goody at a remarkable price. Its not the most complex or weighty wine in the world but for the money it over delivers ripe dark fruit flavours. It's good with most grilled meats and nice to drink on its own. It is not a big rich oz wine, nor is it an aggressive fruit oak kiwi combo. Its just a nice easy drinking red at a good price.

Savoury wine with a nice grainy feel. Loved the flavours and it proved to be very versatile. We have had this wine with steak, BBQ chicken and pork chops (not in one sitting...) and it worked well. At the price a bit of a bargain for a chianti classico I'm thinking.

Duc de Valmer (France) Brut NV 750mlReview written for Duc de Valmer (France) Brut NV 750ml (Product not available at this time)

A refreshing bit of fizz to cleanse the palate and sweep away the daily grind. Complex this is not but it I don't know of anything that comes close in the value for money stakes. I prefer this over any number of NZ or Australian offerings at more than twice the price.

Emergo (Gisborne) Chardonnay 2009Review written for Emergo (Gisborne) Chardonnay (Product not available at this time)

I'm not a fan of the big oaky fruit bombs that can be NZ chardonnay. I like this because it is restrained and low key. Easy drinking wine that I find nice by itself, and it goes well with chicken and fish.

A decent taste of chianti at a reasonable price. Good on its own and good with simple food like (surprise) pasta.

Easy drinking, soft and fruity with a refreshing crisp edge to it. Perfect after work on a warm evening / pre-dinner.
