Krohn are a small family-owned Port house run by brother and sister Jose and Iolanda Carneiro. Long renowned for the quality of their sublime Colheitas (single vintage tawnies), they produce a remarkably complete range for a small house and each wine excels in its category.

Croft White Port is a blend of wines produced from white grapes grown mainly on the Upper slopes of the Douro Valley. The grapes used include the Arinto, Boal, Esgana Cao, Folgasão, Gouveio, Viosinho and Rabigato varieties. The individual wines are aged in oak vats for about three years, where they acquire mellowness and character. They are blended to produce a rich white port in the traditional smooth, full bodied style. 

Croft Fine Ruby is blended from red wines produced in the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo areas of the upper Douro Valley, selected for their depth of colour, intense fruit and full, firm palate. These wines are matured for about three years in oak vats, where they soften and develop without losing their fresh, intense fruity character and their deep ruby colour. 

The Fine Tawny is drawn from a reserve of fine wood ports which have been aged for up to three years in seasoned oak casks, each holding about 650 litres of wine. The individual wines are then blended to guarantee consistency of quality and house style.

This is a Finest Reserve Port which is a blend of ports which have been aged in wood for four to five years to produce wines of greater complexity than their younger counterparts. A port with attractive, intense fresh fruit aromas and flavours. A powerful, rich blackberry bouquet with subtle hints of spice and cedar. On the mouth strong black fruit and chocolate flavours dominate. The wine has good weight and structure with a fine finish.

The 10 Year Old Tawny is drawn from a reserve of fine wood ports which have been aged to full maturity in seasoned oak casks, each holding about 630 litres of wine. The individual wines are then blended to guarantee consistency of quality and house style. 
Attractive tawny colour with amber rim. Complex nose full of mellow spicy aromas and hints of walnut, butterscotch and fine oak wood, against a background of rich jammy fruit. Beautifully smooth and round on the palate which is full of ripe figgy flavours.

The wine is wonderfully rich, fragrant and concentrated with layers of fruit. An elegant wine with good complexity, sweet black fruit with notes of cocoa and mocha. Lovely, intense finish full of flavour and delicate tannins.

Krohn are famous for their elegant tawny Colheitas. This follow on to the vintage 2000 is similar in style and a great alternative to LBV. A Gold Medal winner at this year’s International Wine Challenge, the judges commented that it offered a “soft toffee nose with caramelised berry fruit and hints of dry figs on the palate”. Utterly scrumptious.
