Black Cottage (Otago) 2022 Pinot Noir

Supplier Promo

5 stars - Sam kim, Wine Orbit
93 points & rated ‘Excellent’ - Cameron Douglas MS
4.5 stars - The Wine Writer
4 stars - Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

This ever popular label is super quaffable and easy drinking in style..

Winery note
"The continental Central Otago climate is one of extremes – the fiercely cold nights and long, warm summer days allow the black queen to display pure, vibrant fruit. From a vineyard in the Bendigo sub-region, the fruit was hand harvested from traditional Pinot Noir clones 5, 115 and 777. The wine was hand plunged with 8% whole bunch before being aged in predominately mature French oak barrels. Tasting notes: With dark purple hues, this savoury pinot noir releases lifted aromas of raspberry and dark cherry with hints of iodine and black olive. The palate is full of kirsch cherry and cassis flavours, umami, liquorice and a sprinkling of dried herbs. A focussed frame and crunchy tannins contribute to a glossy mouth feel and a slightly peppery finish. Pair with chargrilled meats and game dishes."

Every Day Low Price!

8 Consecutive Best Buy Awards - Wine Enthusiast (2014 to 2021 Vintage)
Awarded American Winery of the Year – Wine Enthusiast Magazine 2019

Winery notes
"For years, Bogle winemakers have sought out vines ranging in age from 60 to 80 years old for our Old Vine Zinfandel. These gnarly head-trained and dry farmed pioneers produce low yields of small, concentrated clusters of fruit, producing incredibly intense and flavourful wines.

Cedar, juniper berry and sweet dried herbs greet the nose of this wine, while focused flavours of dried plums, cranberries and cherries sink into a decadent, plush mouthfeel. Saturated and dense, the wine finishes with touches of licorice and spicy oak from the 12 months in 2 year-old American oak barrels."

Carrick (Central Otago) 2019 Bannockburn Pinot Noir

5 Stars - Candice Chow. Raymond Chan Wine reviews,

Carricks' estate Pinot Noir is always a treat and always consistent.
Winery description
"The Bannockburn Pinot Noir is Carrick's flagship wine, and the wine that we feel best represents the strong connection we have with our site. Known for its structure and ability to age well over a long period of time, the fruit is hand-picked from several vineyard parcels that are entirely grown on their own roots and are the oldest vines we have on the property. Now 25 years old. The 2019 growing season was slow to start with a cold, wet spring, followed by a warmer than average summer, yields came in on average and the numerous rain events were followed by wind, resulting in fruit arriving in good condition."

The front palate is packed with sweet bright fruit with the same red cherries and blackberries on the nose following through to the flavours. 97 Points - Andrew Caillard MW

97 Points - Ken Gargett, Tasting Book
94 Points - Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot

From some of the oldest ungrafted Shiraz vines in the world, all of at least 100 years of age.

Winery description
"The wine delivers classical regional characters of dense, spicy blueberry fruit and savoury pan jus. Next come hints of liquorice, plum, and all-spice all delicately interwoven. A fine grained tannin structure and depth of flavour all show that this wine is made to last the distance in the cellar. A long balanced finish with persistence.

From just two small vineyards on the Eastern Edge of Vine Vale (Deep Sandy Loam) and the Nuriootpa (Alluvial Sand over Red Brown Earth) sub-regions of the Barossa. The hand-picked grapes were destemmed, but not crushed, and spent seven days on their skins in open fermenters with hand-plunging four times daily to gently extract colour, flavours and tannins. This was followed by careful basket pressing followed 24 months' maturation in our cellars in a combination of French and American oak (20% New). In keeping with the non-interventionist winemaking style we have neither fined nor filtered this wine."

Chateau Tanunda (Barossa) 2019 Terroirs Greenock Shiraz

96 POINTS- Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
A tremendously styled shiraz; the bouquet shows dark fruit richness with vanilla, cedar and cake spice characters, followed by a concentrated palate that’s expansive and mouthfilling. It’s splendidly enhanced by silky texture and grainy tannins, offering firm structure and terrific length. At its best: now to 2038.
92 POINTS - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Deep dark purple/red colour, with a more herbal aromatic note, peppercorns, coconut and green walnut naunces, too. The palate is bold and full-bodied...Age will no doubt bring more to it. Drink 2022 - 2035

An expression of invidivuals regions within the greater Barossa area. Greenock sits on the north western outskirts of Nuriootpa, in the heart of the Barossa Valley.
The dark, brooding regional characters of plum, red cherry and liquorice are all to the fore of this wine. The palate is focused and linear, with dark bitter chocolate notes and an elegant long persistent finish. We recommend cellaring for 10 years.
