From multi award winning wine producer West Brook Estate - this is one sensational Sauvignon Blanc. Michael Cooper called this wine above average value at $20 - at our price it's the Sauvignon deal of the year!
Swan Michel hand-crafted this Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from a small block of fruit which was hand picked at optimum ripeness. Fermented and aged in 3 year old French oak barrels for 8 months with regular lees stirring, this wine displays subtle oak characteristics and a long lingering finish. The tropical palate showcases pineapple and gooseberry flavours with hints of capsicum.
The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was grown in the Wairarapa region. Its characteristics of gooseberry and spicy acidity were enhanced by along lingering fermentation. Great care was given to finish this wine off perfectly.
This Sauvignon Blanc has a star bright and pale colour. The nose is fresh and appealing with notes of citrus, wet stones, fennel and white flowers. It is dry and lively on the palate with a racy acidity, a long and persistent length, mineral and pure.
Margrain, so often overlooked because of historical reasons. They are however one of the best producers of wine in Martinborough. This Sauvignon Blanc does not disappoint. This dry, mineral laden wine is the most perfect oyster and shell fish wine you will find in New Zealand.
