"A fabulously rich and gloriously delicious red displaying blackberry, vanilla, blueberry and cedary oak characters on the
nose. The palate is powerful and richly flavoured with velvety texture and loads of polished tannins. A stunningly opulent
red."
Sam Kim

Four Stars - Joelle Thomson
"Syrah is one of the hottest reds in the world right now. Also and arguably better known as shiraz, syrah is a peppery, cool-ish climate expression of one of the world’s great grapes. In this Argentinean version, it finds a beautiful balance of fruity flavour with powerful body. It’s excellent value for money." Joelle Thomson
Fantastic reserve Syrah from Michel Torino. Made with one goal in mind: creating the best wine from the best grape selection from the most incredible terroir. Located 1700 metres above sea level, the Cafayate Valley creates stunning wines with it's unique alpine climate. Incredibly concentrated syrah with great finesse and character.

Origin
Cafayate - Valles Calchaquies - Argentina.

Terroir
Deep, poor and rocky soils. Mountain watering from the Andes. A wide thermal amplitude wich big differences (aproximately 22°C) between the minimum during the cold mornings and nights, and the maximum during sunny days. High sun exposure of about 350 sunny days a year. Dry climate with approximately 120 mm rainfall a year and an average of 15° humidity. The results: High concentration of colour, aromas and flavours, unique fruity character.

Winemaking
The winemaking goal is to produce elegant and complex wines in this range. The first work is in the vineyards to obtain concentration and balance using vines older than 20 years. The harvest is manual, putting the clusters in small 22 kgs. boxes. In the winery the must is produced using just first press juice. 70% of the wines is aged in small barrels of both American and French Oak for 12 months. 100% of the wine does the malolactic fermentation spontaneously.

Tasting Notes
Crimson red, profound with purple borders almost black. Very intense nose. Attack full of spicy notes, cassis and clove with vanilla aromas persisting at the end. Sweet and rounded tannins shape a well structured and full character wine. A fruity mouth, full of cassis and marmalade. The barrel spell contributes elegant vanilla notes.

This is a an excellent Shiraz and at under $20 is a bargain. I notice the price has risen since I purchased possibly due to the awards it has picked up but if it stays under $20 I will be buying more.

Nice Syrah from Argentina. Dark colours and quite fruity. Quite different to alot of NZ Syrahs and in my opinion - better. It was alot heavier and gutsier than alot of NZ ones tried recently. 84/100 IMHO

Not a big Aussie, rather like a good Hawkes Bay syrah. Elegant.

Fabulous value! Fully ready, soft, delicious tannins, this is a beauty - but don't buy it all before I get my fill! Marty, Wainuiomata

"Drink this big, soft fruit bomb now to enjoy it's juicy, sherbet-like fruit flavours. This is great value at such a low price. It is good everyday drinking, especially with meaty food as we head into winter." Joelle Thomson
The silky soft flavoursome palate has an abundance of ripe, deep, dark red berry fruits with a clean, elegant well balanced finish of white pepper.
Shiraz lovers rejoice!
