Silver Medal - Argentine Wine Awards

"This Cabernet has a real luxury feel to it. The bouquet is superbly ripe and complex displaying blackberry, dark plum, cedar and dried herb characters. It's concentrated and weighty on the palate showing meltingly sweet texture and classic firm tannins. A wine of considerable presence. At its best: now to 2018" - Sam Kim

Four 1/2 Stars - Warren Barton
Consistently one of the better and more sophisticated red wines produced each year under this Argentinian (Michel Torino) label. A generous blend of berries and cherries subtly spiced, shaken with pepper and wrapped in toasty oak. A long, luxuriant finish."  Warren Barton

Fantastic reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Michel Torino. Made with one goal in mind: creating the best wine from the best grape selection from the most incredible terroir. Located 1700 metres above sea level, the Cafayate Valley creates stunning wines with it's unique alpine climate. Aged in French and American Oak, this wine is everything you are looking for in top flight Cabernet Sauvignon - sophisticated and complex with a long elegant finish. This wine is unbelievable buying at just $17.99.

Origin
Cafayate - Valles Calchaquies - Argentina.

Terroir
Deep, poor and rocky soils. Mountain watering from the Andes. A wide thermal amplitude wich big differences (aproximately 22°C) between the minimum during the cold mornings and nights, and the maximum during sunny days. High sun exposure of about 350 sunny days a year. Dry climate with approximately 120 mm rainfall a year and an average of 15° humidity. The results: High concentration of colour, aromas and flavours, unique fruity character.

Winemaking
The winemaking goal is to produce elegant and complex wines in this range. The first work is in the vineyards to obtain concentration and balance using vines older than 20 years. The harvest is manual, putting the clusters in small 22 kgs. boxes. In the winery the must is produced using just first press juice. 70% of the wines is aged in small barrels of both American and French Oak for 12 months. 100% of the wine does the malolactic fermentation spontaneously.

Tasting Notes
Ruby red, dark and intense with subtle tiles edges. Spicy aroma with red pepper and paprika dominating and the oak adding smoky/tobacco notes. Firm and ripe tannins with a mouthfilling presence. Elegant, sophisticated and complex. Black berries, morello cherry and pepper notes stand out. Long and elegant finish.

Nice wine and definitely worth trying especially at this price. Nice subtle change from the Aussie Cab Savs i'm used to but still the dark colour and heavy weight with smokey, peppery finish. Fantastic with Red meats or BBQ,or probably anything smoked. 84/100 IMHO

As you would expect from a world beater this wine is very smooth and great with red meats.

Long Flat wine has been an Australian classic for more than 40 years.
Brick red in colour, a lovely wine with great depth of flavour. The nose shows fig and florals, red and black liquorice, cocoa and pepper. Savour the spice and plum pudding aromas, the luscious blackberry characters, and spicey oak notes. On the palate, lots of black cherry and chocolate unfold with a nice cedary core from oak ageing. Sophisticated oak characters are just discernable, providing a cedar/ charcoal-carbon backdrop against small-berried fruits. The long finish shows vanilla, blueberry and black pepper amid a minty black cherry profile. A wine with a profile of welcome supple spice, soft oak and perfect acid balance, make a generous, forward drinking and approachable Shiraz.

Four Stars - Joelle Thomson
"Drink this big, soft fruit bomb now to enjoy it's juicy, sherbet-like fruit flavours. This is great value at such a low price. It is good everyday drinking, especially with meaty food as we head into winter." Joelle Thomson
The silky soft flavoursome palate has an abundance of ripe, deep, dark red berry fruits with a clean, elegant well balanced finish of white pepper.
Shiraz lovers rejoice!
