Three 1/2 Stars - Warren Barton
"A soft and fruity Malbec under a label that means pure and clean in the ancient language of Argentina's Aymara people. A mouthful of plums and prunes, raisins and rosemary that flows effortlessly across the palate and finishes with a gentle, spicy flourish" Warren Barton
A wine that is 100% certified organic for the very affordable price of just $13.99. And boy does this wine deliver!
A wine with clear sharp and lively red with violet hues. A distinctive plum jam aroma, typical of the Malbec grape, fill the nose, complimented by raisin, vanilla and rosemary characters that make the wine very appealing. A fruity mouthful, full of soft and sweet tannins. Date and raisin stand out with a touch of nuts and spiciness at the end.
Cuma is the range of organic wines produced by Michel Torino Estate. Both the practices in the vineyards and the winery have followed strictly controlled and certified organic processes. In the vineyards the fertilizers are waste of sheep, ants are fought with diatom earth, and weeds control is with machetes, all of them natural elements. In the winery the sulphur levels are lower to those of conventional wines. Cuma means pure and clear in Aymará, the language of a tribe who inhabited the Cafayate region in the Inca's time.
For Michel Torino, organic practices are a way to reconnect to the land and an ecologicaly responsible way to contribute to the wellbeing of future generations. The expression of the wines is empowered , flavors and tastes are more intense, fresher and more natural, the grape is allowed to express itself in the most genuine way.
