Four Stars - Joelle Thomson
"Malbec is the red that defines Argentina with its big, bold, intensely dark fruit flavours. It’s an outstanding wine at this price – offering not only value, but fabulous intensity in flavour, colour, aroma and wow factor." Joelle Thomson

Four Stars - Warren Barton
"Juicy rare steak screams out for wines like this one from beneath the Andes in northern Argentina. And so does anyone with a taste for malbec that is awash with blackberries spiked with chocolate and seasoned with pepper. A concentrated, cuddly red that represents great value for money." Warren Barton

A simply beautiful red wine from Argentina. We have scored a major coup securing this premium wine at an unbelievable price point.

Malbec is one of the traditional "Bordeaux varietals", having characteristics that fall between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Famed for its deep color, ample tannin, and lovely plum-like flavours - this Michel Torino (pronounced Me-shell Torino) Malbec is a fantastic example of the variety.
Spend just $13.99 on this wine and you will learn why the world is raving about Argentine Malbec.

From the Cafayate - Valles Calchaquies region of Argentina. Grown in deep, poor and rocky soils. with the crystal clear waters of the Andes mountains providing the irrigation. A wide thermal amplitude with big differences (aproximately 22°C) between the minimum during the cold mornings and nights, and the maximum during sunny days. High sun exposure of about 350 sunny days a year. Dry climate with approximately 120 mm rainfall a year and an average of 15° humidity. The results: High concentration of colour, aromas and flavours, unique fruity character.

Michel Torino range of wines express a marked fruit style, showing a pure varietal character with traces of the unique terroir. Harvest is manual, juice goes through a pre-fermentative maceration process at cold temperatures to extract fruit and colour while softening tannic influence takes place. Finally, 30% of the wine get a delicate and subtle contribution of both American and French oak during 6 months, gaining a touch of complexity.

The colour is crimson red, intense with sharpening black borders. Distinct plum aromas typical of this grape enhanced by cherry notes, rosemary hints and subtle chocolate traces due to its oak spell. Mouth-Filling plumy fruit . Sweet attack with firm and fine tannins. Balance with notes of cassis, hints of vanilla and a long round finish.

Hard to separate this and the Cuma organic Malbec from Michel Torino. I would personally go for the organic version but this is a very good value for money Malbec and worth buying as a drink now wine. We had this wine with chilli mussels, pepperoni and smoked salami as a pre dinner starter, yum.

A couple of years ago, in Mendoza, Argentina, I learned how beautiful a full bodied Malbec can be. Michel Torino ticks all the boxes for me. Goes great with rare roast beef/steak , and for me, almost anything else as well. Value for money, brilliant.

I really enjoyed this Malbec from this Estate. This top notch winery seems to do fine things with all it's grapes to me. Whilst this doesn't compare to say, the Altimus, it is a fine example of Malbec wine with dark colour, fruit flavours and a nice pepper finish. Eat it with any Red meats and you will enjoy. 85/100 IMHO

Preferred this one to the Benjamin but both are excellent wines. Great alternative to the usual new world red wines!

Michel Torino Malbec continues to provide really good wine with excellent value for the price. The nose and taste supports this wines depth and length.

Have just opened my last bottle of 2007. And it's just come right! What was a little rough edged has now mellowed out and it's become a silky, earthy , berry fruity delight. While I feared the closures may have been borderline for keeping this length of time, I've been very pleasantly surprised. What a shame I'm going to have to wait another 4 years before the current vintage is going to be drinking at it's best! This bottle at this price rates 5 stars for me.

"A nicely maturing red, the lifted bouquet shows complex aromas of dark berry, smoked meat, clove and dried herbs. It is ripe and rounded on the palate, and delivers attractive fruit intensity and silky texture. Harmonious and elegant, and very friendly. At its best: now to 2017." Reviewed May 2016 - Sam Kim Wine Orbit 4 Stars

Exclusive to Winesale.co.nz, this sensational Hawkes Bay wine is made by one of Hawkes Bay best performing and well know wineries.
When it comes to delivering value for money, the Bell Bird Bay reserve range will not disappoint!
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Supple and well balanced showing plum, red berries and hints of leather. Well integrated spicy oak is supported by fine tannins and firm structure. Match with red meats and game, pasta, cheese or full flavoured dishes.

Our famous 5 Star Central Otago Pinot Noir. This quality of Pinot Noir at this price has been unheard until now. Bramble, spice, doris plum and rich ripe red fruit aromatics. A delicious fruit driven style having a rounded palate of cherry flavours with a hint of chocolate and spice. Followed by a mineral, elegant palate showing great density, tension and persistence. Ideal on its own or matched with lamb or strong flavoured fish.
