We know what your saying "Why would I buy imported new world Pinot Noir when we already have the best Pinot Noir right on our doorstep?"
Well we could answer by saying Michel Torino (pronounced Me-shell Torino) have been growing grapes in the Cafayate Valley in Argentina since 1892. We could also say that Cafayate Valley is 1700 metres up in the Andes and has an incredible climate where the temperature variaton between day and night is as high as 22 degrees celsius. Ideal conditions for producing wines with intense varietal flavours. Or... we could just say nothing and make you stump up with the cash to find out for yourself why our tasting panel just couldn't say no to this wine.
Cafayate - Valles Calchaquies - Argentina.
Deep, poor and rocky soils. Mountain watering from the Andes. A wide thermal amplitude with big differences (aproximately 22°C) between the minimum during the cold mornings and nights, and the maximum during sunny days. High sun exposure of about 350 sunny days a year. Dry climate with approximately 120 mm rainfall a year and an average of 15° humidity. The results: High concentration of colour, aromas and flavours, unique fruity character.
Michel Torino range of wines express a marked fruit style, showing a pure varietal character with traces of the unique terroir. Harvest is manual, juice goes through a pre-fermentative maceration process at cold temperatures to extract fruit and colour while softening tannic influence takes place. Finally, 30% of the wine get a delicate and subtle contribution of both American and French oak during 6 months, gaining a touch of complexity.
A colour that is delicate with fine ruby red and violet hues. The wine displays aromas that are subtle and elegant, with ash and earth characters, with hints of violets and raspberry. A delicious distinguished palate with a soft velvety texture. Touches of cooked strawberries, wild flowers and almonds.
