5 Stars - Raymond Chan "Full, deep, near impenetrable black-red colour. This has a full, broad and voluminous bouquet with deeply packed aromas of blackberries entwined with blackcurrants and black plums, unfolding dark herbs and spice notes, along with black minerals, black ink and cedary oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate has mouthfilling flavours of ripe, blackberry and plum fruit along with notes of herbs with menthol nuances, unfolding mineral and ink elements. The palate possesses an abundance of tannin extraction and structure supporting the fruit,, the wine showing plenty of presence. The acidity is soft, and the wine flows to a textured, firm finish with blackberries, plums, spices and cedar. This is a broad and fulsome Malbec/Merlot blend with ripe blackberry and plum flavours along with mineral and ink on a structured palate." Raymond Chan

92 Points - Robert Parker
89 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine
Gold Medal - Selections Mondiales des Vins, Canada (2008 Vintage)
Gold Medal - Argentine Wine Awards (2008 Vintage)

Layered aromas of cassis, berry, coffee and mocha come with regional Cafayate green notes. The palate is lively and offers ribald acidity along with red plum, berry, vanilla, spice and toast flavors. Turns more oaky the longer it's open, with vanilla and dill on the finish. Buy this wine - the quality on offer for this price will astound you!

WOW, WOW, WOW, and WOW!! This was a BIG surprise and I take back all the nasty things I've ever said about Malbec/Merlot. From the moment I saw the bottle of this I knew I was in for a big treat. If you like big gutsy reds which you can't see through in the glass and stick to your mouth well after you've drunk them, you HAVE to try this. When I poured this into a glass for the first time I got very excited and could tell I was gonna love this wine... Lot's of Tannins and dark fruit flavours. Best Merlot I have ever had. Did I mention WOW! NOTE: This was the 2008 Vintage - 96/100 IMHO

As an Argentinean... I have to say this is one of my favourite wines! Coming from one of the Top 10 wineries in Argentina, this wine is just spectacular... and cheaper to get here than in Argentina! Unbelievable!

An astonishing wine ! I could see something special about it while pouring the first glass - the first wow ! what a colour ! After tasting it, I was left speechless ( I mean really strugling to find the adequate words to describe the feeling ). I found the words a bit later on, in Joelle Thompson and Sam Kim's notes, true down to the last letter. Highly Recommended !

Powerful dark fruits on the nose, deep purple color, perfectly blended flavors, silky smooth with a dash of treacle in the mouth, plenty of fine tannins but no harshness: this one ticks all the boxes for me. But is it worth the extra $10 a bottle? I compared it with two good $20+ NZ reds I recently drank, both of which in retrospect I would rate solid four stars. The answer, if you can afford it, is yes!! To put my money where my mouth is, I'm ordering two more bottles.

This is a powerhouse wine for those who like some real flavour and "guts" in their red wine. It should handle a strong matching dish, eg, lamb shanks or a savoury beef curry. Proper room temperature and some breathing is recommended. Not for the faint-hearted!

Lovely drinking. Couldn't go wrong with this. Drinks well on its own,but also I would say enough guts to accompany almost anything you want to drink it with. A great wine to have in the cellar. However, again I must say at this price I can drink some pretty good wines that may make this look a little normal - but I would buy it again

This wine was a surprise. First I took the cork and tried it. It was very earthy so I poured the wine through my aerater and wow it was magnificient ripe berry fruit tastes with a very strong back of the tongue support. Conclusion: Let this wine breath before drinking and it is every bit as marvelous as they claim.

"Don't cry for me Argentina" even when you first taste this magnificent Malbec blend, BIG, fruity, dense red colour, great after taste. I opened this one with a few mates around, they were drinking whites, two of us supped this one, then I quietly removed the bottle after my first taste just in case they decided to switch to red (life is too short to share your best reds with other than yourself !!!) Buy this one if it's still on sale, you won't be disappointed.

- Sam Kim Wine Orbit
Our famous 5 Star Central Otago Pinot Noir. This quality of Pinot Noir at this price has been unheard until now. Bramble, spice, doris plum and rich ripe red fruit aromatics. A delicious fruit driven style having a rounded palate of cherry flavours with a hint of chocolate and spice. Followed by a mineral, elegant palate showing great density, tension and persistence. Ideal on its own or matched with lamb or strong flavoured fish.

El Esteco (Argentina) 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
El Esteco (Argentina) 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

5 Stars - Raymond Chan "Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly presented and well-proportioned with deep and concentrated aromas of ripe blackcurrant fruit with cassis liqueur notes, herbs, savoury green olives, and refined, pencilly oak. Full-bodied, the palate features sweetly ripe and well-concentrated flavours of blackcurrants and cassis along with subtle herb notes, nuances of savoury olives and pencilly oak. The mouthfeel is fresh, firm and vibrant with good fine-grained tannin structure and lively, lacy acidity. The flavours flow with drive and energy, leading to a sustained, elegant finish of blackcurrants and herbs. This is an elegantly proportioned and well-concentrated, classical Cabernet Sauvignon with blackcurrant and cassis fruit along with herbs, olives and pencilly oak of a fine, but firm-textured, driven palate" Raymond Chan

Sensational new arrival from Bodegas El Esteco. Winesale.co.nz is proud to be the exclusive retailer of this fine wine. Ruby red, profound and clean. Tears formed in glass indicate a very good structure and concentration. Spicy notes where black and red peppers outstand. Persistent and elegant. True exponent of a Cabernet Sauvginon from the Calchaqui Valley. Ripe and round tannins fulfill the mouth. Black fruit and chocolate notes prevail where the oak is gently integrated with the fruit. Long and elegant persistence.
