I have to admit that my curiosity could not resist this wine. "The wine was left to mature for 4 years in French oak vats" - I just had to know how this turned out. Not what I expected. The colour was a shocker - the brightest ruby red I have ever seen in a wine. It was also surprisingly "light" in appearance. Aromas of blueberries, blackberries, and leather. Has a remarkable amount of fruit on the palate - mostly tart cherries. Fairly strong in the acid and tannin department. I knew prior to opening this would probably not be at its best right now - and the wine does need some time to integrate (which will take the edge off the acid as well as smooth out the fruit) - but I just had to know. So, I prepared ahead and have a couple more bottles stashed away. I'm guessing 2(??) years and I'll see where it's at.
