Gosh, this is nice. Stunning colour - garnet red, it looks almost like a Merlot and practically glows in the glass. There are musky, leathery notes typical of a Martinborough Pinot (Gladstone literally being just down the road). Slightly sharp finish - it might benefit from being hidden away under the house for another year (the other half disagrees and says drink it now, he loved it!). It didn't match at all well with the Spaghetti Bolognese we drank it with, despite a slug going in the sauce. It clashes a bit with tomatoes. I agree with Linda, it will go really well with a beef or lamb roast. Avoid tomatoes, go with garlic or cheese. Or just drink it on it's own in front of the fire. Oh and the price is ridiculously awesome. Buy twice as much.
