I've had the luxury of trying a few Nelson wines recently, a Sauvignon in particular I really rated. Not so much the Pinot Noir ,I feel the same way about this wine as I do most mid-range Marlborough Pinot's: Nothing wrong with them, but you can often get better bang for your buck from Otago and Martinborough. So, the short review is: nothing wrong with this wine, it's a perfectly adequate tipple and I certainly wouldn't tip it out. But if you offered me the choice of a glass of Otago Pinot I'd be grabbing that first. The longer version of the review: we had this with roast lamb. It's a lighter and fruitier style Pinot, and while the lamb wasn't a bad choice, it would probably better suit a lighter lamb meal such as a salad or BBQ. Note that this review is for the 2012 vintage, this wine is very young and it may well improve with a bit of time.
