Nicely balanced example of Viognier at an affordable price. Medium yellow in color with just a bit of greenish tint. It has floral aromas and roasted nuts, with a bit of apricot. There is a fair amount of acid to this wine, so it's better with food. The corn/cream soup and feta I had with it made it a totally different wine. Also, the acid is a bit overwhelming at cooler temperatures, so drink this one at room temperature for the best fruit flavor and balance. We still had the Georges Michel Viognier (also from Winesale) open, so we did a bit of comparison. The Georges Michel is much more aromatic, has a lot more fruit, and is fuller-bodied. We felt that the GM Viognier would be a more versatile food wine, even extending to fruit or custard desserts. It is worth the extra cash to grab a bottle of Georges Michel and try it; however the Richland is still a great wine for the price.
