5 Stars & 97 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Splendidly perfumed and immensely complex, the wine shows sweet cherry, thyme, floral, cedar and earthy mushroom characters on the nose. The palate displays outstanding concentration and persistency, together with refined texture and flowing mouthfeel, finishing wonderfully long and seductive. It’s multi-layered and perfectly proportioned with a stunning line and length. At its best: 2022 to 2033. RRP $75.00Aug 2020." Drink 2022 - 2033

Bright, succulent, ripe red fruits create an inviting first impression of this classic Ata Rangi Pinot Noir. Made from the Abel clone of Pinot Noir. This clone was famously brought to New Zealand in a gumboot from a grand cru vineyard in Burgundy, France; the traditional classic home to the Pinot grape.

As the wine unfolds, delicate floral aromas emerge - think of dark, velvety roses - a fitting image for a wine with such luxuriously silky textural qualities. Tannins are very fine, very supple, allowing the wine to show lovely primary fruit on the nose at this early stage. The long, long finish is laden with fruit weight and intensity that promises rewards from careful cellaring.
