17/20 - Jancis Robinson
"Blackcurrant leaf, tomato stalk - very good definition here, and something Bordelais about it. Dry, powdery texture and finishes with lovely fennel notes. Nice to see Marlborough Sauvignon blanc acheiving complexity beyond the usual boundries" (01/2019)

"Gentle waxy lime-cream aromas here. Thers an attaractive, saline freshness to the palate with refined and composed, peach, green-mango and lightly creamy notes, too" (08/2019)

Awatere River wines are made by Louis Vavasour. The Vavasour family has toiled and triumphed with Awatere Valley land for over 100 years. In the 1980s, Louis Vavasours parents, Pete and the late Anna Vavasour, were the first to grow grapes and make wine here. Growing up, Louis saw the river as the valley’s lifeblood and so named his super-premium wine range after it, reflecting the minerality and alluvial finesse it brings to all his wines.

Winery note
"the Awatere Valley’s terroir conspires to produce distinctive, complex, intriguing wines. The palate has a delicate texture, with finesse and concentration of tropical and citrus flavours, with herb and floral notes providing complexity. This wine has elegance, length and fine acidity."
