"Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Blason d'Issan features cassis, plums and earth on the nose with an undercurrent of bay leaves and tobacco. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with good concentration and length."

A well known name and history in the famed Margaux region. Blason d’Issan, is the second wine of Chateau D'Issan. Chateau d’Issan is one of the oldest wine-producing properties in Bordeaux. In 1152, the estate wine was produced and served at the wedding of King Henry and Elanor of Aquitaine. Also reportedly stocked in the cellars of George 2nd and US President Jefferson. The estate is surely one the most beautiful around with its ancient castle, gardens and its own moat. Purchased in 1945 by the well-known Cruse family and revamped. It is today still managed by the family.

Fruit from the youngest vines is used to produce this wine, which respects the identity of its terroir, while offering a tasty round fruitiness, which can be enjoyed earlier. Blason d’Issan is also aged in barrels for 14 to 16 months, one third of which are new. Annual production is around 120,000 bottles.

2016 is a vintage with outstanding balance. The final blend being 40% Cabernet Sauvignon  60% Merlot.

light nose of black fruit (blackberry) and oaky notes (autumn leaves). The wine is medium-bodied on the palate and offers crunchy, ripe tannins.
