93 Points Excellent Cameron Douglas (Feb 2021)
"Vibrant, youthful and fruity bouquet with aromas of dark cherries and dried raspberry, spices of toasty French oak barrel, a stony earthy quality and youthful complexity. On the palate - powerful, fruity, earthy and dry. Flavours reflect the core of red berry fruits and raspberry, there’s plenty of tannin and acidity for texture with fruit and oak flavours for contrast. Still youthful and can remain in your cellar if you like. Best drinking from 2022 through 2028+. If opened between 2022 and 2024 - I suggest it be enjoyed with food."

4 Stars - Michael Coopers Buyers Guide (2020)
"Still on sale, the deeply coloured 2014 vintage (4*) is a single-vineyard red, hand-harvested at Pisa, in the Cromwell Basin, and matured for 10 months in French oak casks (32 per cent new). Fragrant, mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, it has generous, well-ripened cherry, plum and spice flavours, and a firm finish.``

4 1/2 Stars & Best Buy - Cuisine Magazine
"This label is a regular achiever at Cuisine pinot tastings. The 2014 version is typically inky, rich and powerful, offering lashings of dark berryfruit flavours, well supported by a sturdy acid/tannin frame. Tailor-made for devotees of the dark, pure, ripe style of pinot."

Charcoal Gully Pinot is a single vineyard wine found near Mount Pisa Station, between Cromwell and Wanaka. This area is known as Pisa. The north-facing vineyard lies on gently sloping land on the lower of two river terraces, at an altitude of 230 metres. Made under the watchful eye of awesome wine extraordinaires James Dicey (Mt Diff) and Pete Bartle (Wooing Tree, Providore). This is a wine from a top location, top vintage and top winemaking team.

Cellared to perfection and drinking beautifully. We bagged some of this award winning wine at a snip - this wine sells for up to $32.99 elsewhere.

Dark and deep with Blackberry hues. Youthful in appearance. A bold and upfront nose. Packed with aroma, showing Fragrant and Ripe Black Raspberry and Cherry. Entertwined with mediterranean herbs, charry oak and earthy minerality.
