100% Merlot. Deep black colour with purple tints. Powerful and complex bouquet of liquorice, blackcherry, blackberry, graphite, cedar, toast... Extremely rich though elegant, its full, silky and coated tannins wrap you in softness. Mineral-toasty nuances on the long finish. A pure expression of its rare origin.
The Cru "Le Grand Rossignol" was the first block to exhibit exceptional potential in winery's history, a century ago. A single vineyard situated in St-Félix de Foncaude. Deep clayey soil and subsoil with uncommon inflating properties. East exposure. Natural medium to high water constraint, perfect regulation for high-end Merlot grapes. Temperature controlled fermentation (28 °C). 20 to 30 days vatting. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Ageing on lees in 100% new French oak barrels (best origin) for 16 months. Only 10,000 bottles produced in exceptional years.
