5 Stars & 94/100 - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2019
"Seductively complex and engaging, the bouquet shows dried cherry, smoked game, dark mushroom and almond characters with a hint of dried herbs. The palate delivers excellent weight, while remaining elegant and poised with fine texture and polished tannins, leading to a lengthy spicy/savoury finish. At its best: now to 2024.” Sam Kim

What a fabulous intro to 'natural wine'!

Darnley Corner wines made by wonderful winemaker Theo Coles, who is behind the super trendy Hermit Ram, Crater Rim and Kalex wines. He has also had a hand in Mountford Estate wines. Grapes are from the home vineyard ‘Darnley Corner’ on Glasnevin gravels, Waipara, North Canterbury.

The Darnley Corner Pinot Noir is a revelation for those looking to try a bare bones style Pinot Noir. Made using the traditional foot stomping method and using only wild yeast, unfined and filtered.

Explosive and vibrant aromas of crushed wild berries, rose petal and smoke. Flavours of plum, cranberry, fresh florals and dusty earthy characters. Gently structured tannins, vibrant acidity and purity of fruit wake up your palate.

It's a brave and exciting world out there - -and here is evidence!
