4 Stars - Joelle Thomson "A meaty dark red with pronounced
grainy tannins, a full body and lots of life ahead of it, thanks to its muscular power.
This wine is good value for money, drinks
well now and is best served in a large glass to allow the air to soften its tannins; cellar

for 4 to 5 years" Joelle Thomson  (2017 vintage)

Native to the small Madiran appellation in south west France, the Tannat grape makes full-blooded, age-worthy red wines. It also does very well in the high altitude vineyards of Argentina. Don David Reserve Tannat is made from hand-picked grapes, and is aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.

The Don David Reserve Tannat has firm tannins and great full of character. This wine is a fantastic representation of the terroir to be found in Cafayete, Calchaqui valley. The palate shows lots of dark chocolate and smooth flavours with a firm, pleasant finish. This variety is very much sought after for it's high level of resveratrol and associated possible health benefits.
