3/100 - The Real Review 2019 (Bob Campbell MW)
5 Stars & 93/100 - Sam Kim Wine Orbit 2019

4 ½ Stars -  Michael Cooper

"From vineyards ‘scattered across the region’, the refined and harmonious 2017 vintage was grown at Waipara, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques. Fragrant and savoury, it is full-bodied, with youthful, ripe, plummy, spicy flavours, showing greater richness and complexity than most sub-$30 Pinot Noirs, and the structure to mature well. Best drinking 2021+."

91/100 - James Suckling August 2019
"This is a dark-fruited, rich and succulent, cherry-flavoured Pinot that has immediate appeal and delivers so much rich, fresh cherry flavour in a simple, drinkable guise."

90/100 - Wine Advocate July 2019
"The 2017 Nor'wester Pinot Noir (a reference to the prevailing winds) offers up a pleasing combination of mossy oak, savoury, meaty notes and ripe cherries. It's medium-bodied, with a soft, dusty tannin structure and mouthfeel, and a lingering, silky finish. Nicely done."

This is only the second release of Nor'wester Pinot Noir from the highly acclaimed Greystone winery. Not that you would believe it from the stats.

Greystone owns 120 hectares of land on Waipara’s rolling Omihi Hills although only 40 hectares comprising carefully chosen sites have been planted with vines. They have deliberately diversified the estate by planting olive trees as well as thousands of native trees.

This is excellent buying from highly acredited winemaker Dom Maxwell. Rich dark fruits balanced herbs, and earthy characters. Tightly woven and drying tannins give great structure.
