This boutique little Sav was a hit last time so we bagged another pallet. This time its the 2020 vintage.

In 1842 James Holdaway arrived in Nelson and by 1853 at only 17 years of age he was working in Marlborough. One of his many jobs was driving a bullock dray carrying wool from the Awatere Valley to the Wairau Bar. In 1864 he purchased land in Dillons Point on the lower Wairau plains which he named Lowlands. Now his descendants grow Sauvignon Blanc grapes on this land.

The 2020 vintage was an excellent one for Marlborough. A warm and dry summer gave us perfect ripening conditions, with the classic Marlborough cool nights helping the grapes retain their acidity. The harvest period had ideal conditions, with no weather pressure so harvest decisions were made easily, resulting in clean fruit with excellent flavour concentration.
This wine has a complex array of flavours, with lifted aromas of ripe citrus including grapefruit and mandarin, it also shows passionfruit along with hints of nettles and bell pepper.
The palate has a refreshing but elegant acidity, with appealing fruit weight and a delicate minerality that leads through to a pleasant and lingering finish.
