Konrad Hengstler began planting vines in Marlborough in 1996, it didn’t take him long to shake hands with the Giesen brothers. Their shared commitment to quality shaped their partnerships across decades, ultimately leading Konrad to pass the baton on his retirement. The Giesen brothers continue Konrad Wines’ legacy, distributing quality wines around the world.

"At bottling the Konrad Sauvignon Blanc is already impressive. The aromatics of this wine are primary aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and elderflower. In the mouth the wine is immediately appealing with more of those exotic tropical fruits and textural tone weaving seamlessly with crisp acid and a slice of residual fruit sweetness. It is a wine we are immensely proud to call our flagship wine." Konrad Wines

Individual parcels of fruit were harvested by block and vinified separately in order to create this complex expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. While principally machine harvested at night and fermented in stainless steel, we also hand harvested select portions to whole bunch press and fill directly to seasoned French oak barrels for high solids fermentation. These solids impart an intriguing character to the wine which we believe is a hallmark of great white wine regardless of variety. Each component whether in tank or barrel, was kept on lees for 100 days to allow the yeast to “give back” something to the wine, a term the French call “elevage-sur-lies”.

Stunning. Organic. Seamless.
