Konrad Hengstler began planting vines in Marlborough in 1996, it didn’t take him long to shake hands with the Giesen brothers. Their shared commitment to quality shaped their partnerships across decades, ultimately leading Konrad to pass the baton on his retirement. The Giesen brothers continue Konrad Wines’ legacy, distributing quality wines around the world.

Tasting Note The pale lemon appearance underlies a wine with wonderful intensity. Aromatically the wine shows fresh notes of lemon, lime, tropical fruits, guava, and subtle spice. On the palate enjoy hints of citrus, nashi pear and lemon barley. This wine has wonderful complexity; its lively acidity is in harmony with the sustained finish.

fruit was picked at optimum ripeness and pressed off into two separate parcels. The first parcel was cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to enhance aromatics. To build the complexity a second parcel was fermented in large format 1000 litre German Oak Fuder barrels. These barrels hold a warmer fermentation temperature; the shape and size minimise oak influence. The wine had a short period resting on fine lees prior to bottling in winter 2021.

Perfect summer sipping!
