Silver Medal - International Wine Challege 2011
Four Stars - Joelle Thomson

Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) ports are made with grapes from one year rather than a blend of several years (as most ports are). This particular LBV port wine is dark in colour, dense in rich, fruitcake flavours and has a staunch backbone of tannin adding weight and structure to the wine. It’s definitely a good candidate for decanting, due to the sediment in the wine, which will drop out when you slowly pour this into a jug or decanter. Enjoy with your favourite flavoursome cheeses. Krohn are a small family-owned Port house run by brother and sister Jose and Iolanda Carneiro. Long renowned for the quality of their sublime Colheitas (single vintage tawnies), they produce a remarkably complete range for a small house and each wine excels in its category.
Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Ports are also single year Ports. They have a high quality level, with a good colour and body, a fine aroma and taste, but unlike Vintage they mature in cask for a period of four to six years and are then bottled. The result of this process is a Port which can be drunk earlier than a Vintage Port.

Krohn's LBV Ports are neither fined nor filtered and may thus throw a sediment. We recommend to decant them before serving.
Late Bottled Vintage Ports are affordable, fruity wines you should drink after meal with cheese, pies and all types of melon and berries.
