5 Stars - Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide
"The 2021 vintage was grown in the Awatere and Wairau valleys and partly (10 per cent) fermented in old French oak barrels. Bright, light lemon/green, it is mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with generous, tropical fruit flavours to the fore, a subtle seasoning of oak adding complexity, and a dry (1.6 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Drink now onwards"

Lovely passionfruit, lime zest and floral aromatics. The palate is crisp and bright with wonderful chalky minerality. Concentrated citrus, passionfruit and subtle mealy flavours provide layers of complexity. This is an elegant wine that unfolds in the glass and will develop further complexity with bottle age.

winery note
"The grapes for this wine came from our Waihopai vineyard, the Woodward block in the Wairau Valley (just a few hundred metres from the winery), and our Blind River vineyard in the Awatere. An early budburst and inclement weather at flowering lead to low yields, however the upside of this is that the 2021 season produced ripe and intensely flavoured grapes. Winemaking Low crops and fine weather during the harvest period allowed us to pick these grapes in perfect condition. Each block was picked when we considered them to have reached maximum passionfruit characters and while the acidity was still bright and crisp. The grapes were gently pressed before being fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected cultured yeast, while 10% was fermented with wild yeast in old French barriques. This wine is a blend of the three tanks that we felt stood out for aromatic intensity and concentration on the palate"
