Pierre Ponnelle was well known figure of Burgundy in the 19th century. Born in 1847 he spent his youth in Beaune and later went on to study in Germany. Pierre Ponnelle, however, was above all passionate about oenology. He then returned to Beaune in 1875 and founded his house as wine merchant.

Winesale is delighted to bring to you a classic example burgundian style Chardonnay. The grapes are from selected sites within the Macon Villages appellation, within the Maconnais. This is the most southerly of the Burgundian sub-regions and home to some fantastic value Chardonnay. As the region sits further south the warmer climate makes for Chardonnay with juicy stonefruit characters. Herbs and florals.

Aromas of golden apple, citrus and orange peel. Soft palate backed by freshness and mineral character.
