Aglianico grapes grown around Monte Vulture, an extinct volcano which dominates the skyline and landscape of northern Basilicata.

Often called the Barolo of the South. Introduced by the Greeks into Campania and it spread to Basilicata and Puglia. It makes full-bodied, well structured and generous wines that age gracefully. Taurasi DOCG and Aglianico del Vulture DOC are the two quality leading regions for this grape.

Intense deep ruby while the bouquet is ample, with dominant notes of bitter cherry, candied fruit, aromatic herbs and distant hints of vanilla and thyme. The flavour has an exceptional, powerful and imperious personality, with warm elegant undertones of spices and cream. This is a wine with marked minerality and flavour, characteristics that give it extraordinary balance and drinkability.

Lots of earth, gamey and floral notes this wine also shows a touch of new oak. Rich and pleasing and if you look a bit deeper there is complexity building.
