Winesale.co.nz is thrilled to bring to you the wines of Poggio Nicchiaia.
These are Tuscan wines at thier best.
Poggio Nicchiaia is located in the Pisan hills, with an elevation of no more than 200 metres and a soft landscape and mild climate influenced by the currents of the nearby coast. The soil is a mix of marine origin and rich in fossils with a sandy-silt-clay texture.
Poggio Nicchiaia has about 50 hectares of very well exposed vineyards. The estate grows a variety of Italian and international varieties.
80% Pugnitello and 20% Syrah. The Pugnitello is a Tuscan native grape that has recently been rediscovered by the University of Florence and Pisa.
Ageing in oak, for at least 12 months
Intense fruity nose, showing ripe red berry fruit, black cherry, blackberry and blueberry with a hint of liquorice and pepper scent. Palate, supported by remarkable texture and tannins. Sapid, lively and spicy, with a pleasant after taste.
Gorgeous with red meats and with mature cheeses.
