Part of the stunning selection of wines from Quinta Das Maias, Dão, Northern Portugal. Exclusive to Winesale.

Under the reigns of Luis Lourenco the estate practices organically. The region has seen some attention recently and Luis and his team are striving to get it some well deserved recognition. The wines of Dão are unique, age worthy and eclectic. The region and Quinta Das Maias, Quinta Dos Roques in particular, have pioneered to save their own indigenous varieties such as Jaen. The region has been referred to as the Burgundy of Portugal with complex and ageworthy wines being produced.

Fermentation in steel vats stainless steel. The wine aged in French oak barrels for 8 months. Before bottling the wine was subjected only to a light filtration. Intense and clear appearance. Aromas of spice, cassis, plums and blackberries, in full harmony with the vanilla offered by the wood. In the mouth it is powerful, full bodied, with tannins very present but very soft and a finish prolonged.

As with most of the Maias wines they have a great cellar life developing up to 15 years from vintage.
