5 Stars & 93 Points - Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine reviews, CandiceWineChat
"Deep ruby-black, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is full and robust, with dark fruit, violet and oak spice aromas. Full-bodied, aromas of blackberry, black cherry and blueberry entwined with a hint of smoke, violet and an amalgam of spice. The mouthfeel is smooth with fine-grained, smoky tannins, contributing to a fine grip and lingering with smoke to a long, dry finish. Lively acidity balances a rich, robust palate. This red blend is powerful, with harmonious black fruit and spice enriched by smoky oak and tannin details and a lengthy closing. Match with smoked meat and grill over the next 5-7 years. A blend of Touriga Nacional, Jaen, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roritz and Tinto Cao, fermented to 13% alc.Dec 2022"

Winesale is proud to offer the fabulous wines of Quinta Dos Roques, Dão Portugal. Back in stock New Vintage.

Quinta Dos Roques is one of the leading estates in the Dão. Based in Abrunhosa do Mato.  Its history dates back to the 19th century and in the last 15years quality has excelled gain deserved international acclaim. Manuel Lopes de Oliveira and his son-in-law Luis Lourenço oversee the winery and stunning vineyards, whilst winemaking is led by talented Jorge Brites and Professor Virgilio Loureiro.

This is the estate wine and a delicious blend of indigenous varieties, some that were almost extinct if it were not for the work of Manuel Lopes de Oliveira and his team at Quinta Dos Roques. Touriga Nacional (40%), Jaen (25%), Alfrocheiro (25%), Tinta Roriz (5%) and Tinto Cão (5%). Ageing: in French oak barrels of 225 L for 6 months. Before bottling the wine was only subject to a light filtration.

Intense fruit bouquet showing wild blackcurrants, pine leaves and spice, with a touch of vanilla. On the palate it is very generous, good structure and wonderful ageing potential. This wine should gain immensely by ageing up to 10 years in the cellar.

Pair this with Herb Crusted Lamb for a match made in heaven.
