"Worth cellaring, the 2018 vintage was hand-harvested at Waipara and 60 per cent of the blend was fermented with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels. Bright, light yellow/green, it is mouthfilling and fleshy, with good intensity of ripe stonefruit flavours, still very vibrant and youthful, a hint of honey, balanced acidity and an off-dry (14 grams/litre residual sugar) finish. Best drinking 2021+."
Terrace Edge is located 40 minutes north of Christchurch in the Waipara growing region, overlooking the Waipara River. All fruit is handpicked and hand sorted and wines are produced using minimal intervention.
Terrace Edge Pinot Gris is made in a rich and aromatic style. Grapes are left to hang on the vine well into Autumn before harvesting to ensure good concentration. Grapes are then fermented with native yeasts and matured in oak barriques. Lees stirring takes place in barrel to provide additonal complexity.
Terrace Edge Gris has a delicate yet generously ripe nose showing rich pear and honeysuckle characters along with almost buttery richness and subtle 'gris' spices. The palate is unctuous and lasting, with more pear, brioche and honeyed notes and a phenolic or savoury type structure that adds appeal. A good gris to match with food.
