Introduced into the New Zealand market on 14 July 1999, Cuvee No. 1 is one of New Zealands most highly regarded Methode Traditionelle wines. No. 1 Cuvee was the first wine produced by No. 1 Family Estate.  It is renowned throughout New Zealand and internationally winning numerous trophies (including IWSC and Winestate), gold medals and five star awards since its release.
The wine is 100% chardonnay (blanc de blancs) – A perfect balance between ripe, fresh fruit and toasty yet creamy yeast.  The wine is held on lees for two years or more allowing the perfect level of maturity.  It  displays a fine, consistent bead and firm mousse resulting in a complex character. The palate is smooth and seamless with a wonderful balance of acidity, giving a wine of elegance and style.

We tried this on a Winesale weekend in Martinborough earlier last year so was determined to put it on the Xmas list. This is very good and if you want to impress people with a Champagne taste at a Cuvee price this is your wine. Four and a half stars if system permitted, put it on your shopping list for a wedding or other big occasion.

This sparkling wine would rate as good as any from Champagne and the boxed presentation makes it ideal for gifts or special occasions. I rate this the best sparkling wine I have ever drunk. Harry Jewiss

A very good sparkling that almost anyone will enjoy. I don't know which I prefer this Cuvee No1 or its sibling Cuvee No 8. Always gets good comments from those who have tried it.

Paul Henry's Pick as reviewed by Yvonne Lorkin and Paul Henry on the Paul Henry Show 6th October 2015
Pale salmon-pink colour.  The nose is soft and clean with gently filling and delicate aromas of yellow stonefruits and red berries, revealing herbal elements.  Dryish to taste, light red fruits, currants and herbal flavours are supported by soft, creamy textures. The flavours fade, and lead to a light finish.  This is a clean, fresh and gentle cremant rose.

Founded in 1909 by Eugene Charmat, the inventor of the 'second fermentation in tank' process, the company which produces Pol Clement is dedicated to high quality wines. The flavor profile reveals apple, pear and a yeasty undertone all the way to the bold and refreshing lemon-crisp finish. It offers the characteristic food versatility that many are looking for in a sparkling wine or simply as an appetizing aperitif."
Crisp and refreshing - this delightful light - medium bodied sparkler is sure to please- and best of all is a fabulous price for such quality.
