Johner Estate wines are driven by Karl Johner. With a top winery in Germany, that focusses on Pinot Noir he then set his sights on New Zealand, planting eight hectares of different clones.

Karl Johner, his wife Irene, and son Patrick, have a well-known winery in Germany where they were amongst the first vintners to adapt a quality regime and focus on great Burgundy style wines. With their vision to also create great Pinot Noir in New Zealand, the focus of the wines is not set to upfront fruit.

Rich in colour, this Pinot Noir has red berry fruit and forest floor notes on the nose. The palate has  savoury notes of porcini, autumnal wood smoke and earthy notes developing as the wine opens up. This Pinot noir will increase in complexity as it matures over the next five years.
