88 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate 2017

17/20 4 Stars Raymond Chan

What a lovely little package this is. Winesale office was totally won over. It wasnt just us either looking at its medal collection!

Made by the clever fellows at Te Pa wines, the Koha range is mainly for the on premis market but we were lucky enough to get offered this fab little wine.

Warm and spicy aromas of raspberry and plums, with hints of dried herbs and mocha. The dark berry fruits carry through onto the pallet. This wine is drinking perfectly right now and the tannins are super soft and velvety. Awesome value and a real crowd pleaser.

If you are looking for a generous, soft and sluggable Pinot, look no further!

Michel Torino (Argentina) 2019 Malbec

Four Stars - Joelle Thomson  (2016 Vintage)
"Malbec is the red that defines Argentina with its big, bold, intensely dark fruit flavours. It’s an outstanding wine at this price – offering not only value, but fabulous intensity in flavour, colour, aroma and wow factor." Joelle Thomson

Four Stars - Warren Barton  (2016 Vintage)
"Juicy rare steak screams out for wines like this one from beneath the Andes in northern Argentina. And so does anyone with a taste for malbec that is awash with blackberries spiked with chocolate and seasoned with pepper. A concentrated, cuddly red that represents great value for money." Warren Barton

Michel Torino Coleccion range expresses a prominent, "fruit forward" style, with pure varietal character and vineyard typicity. The goal is to produce elegant and complex wines for their category.
The colour is crimson red, intense with sharpening black borders. Distinct plum aromas typical of this grape enhanced by cherry notes, rosemary hints and subtle chocolate traces due to its oak spell. Mouth-Filling plumy fruit . Sweet attack with firm and fine tannins. Balance with notes of cassis, hints of vanilla and a long round finish.

Evenwood (Barossa) 2017 Shiraz

17.5/20 Raymond Chan
"Full, near-saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has an elegantly concentrated and rich nose of ripe blackberry and plum fruit entwined with notes of liquorice and cedary, toasty oak, along with hints of oak resin, eucalypt and chocolate. Medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours are a little restrained, but unfold to show sweet, ripe plum and liquorice notes. Blackberry, earth, cedary oak and eucalypt layers add detail. The mouthfeel is plush and juicy, and balanced by supple tannin extraction lending structure, presence and weight. The wine flows with underlying alcohol power, carrying to a fresh, sustained finish with liquorice and cedar notes. This is a weighty, ripe, supple Shiraz with restrained plum, liquorice and cedary flavours. Match with barbecued and roasted red meats and casseroles over the next 5+ years." Raymond Chan (2015 Vintage)

Evenwood Barossa Shiraz has been our number one selling red wine for the last 10 years. The 2017 is a new vintage and is tasting better than ever. In the glass the wine has deep red and garnet hues. This follows through to a generous nose of spice, mulberry preserve, dark chocolate, mocca and vanilla tones. Complexity builds as the wine opens further with hints of earthy beetroot and tea rose. The savoury palate shows blood plums with sweet spice leading onto soft tannins.

Don David (Argentina) 2017 Reserve Tannat

4 Stars - Joelle Thomson "A meaty dark red with pronounced
grainy tannins, a full body and lots of life ahead of it, thanks to its muscular power.
This wine is good value for money, drinks
well now and is best served in a large glass to allow the air to soften its tannins; cellar
for 4 to 5 years" Joelle Thomson
2008 Vintage voted "Best Red Wine in the World" at the 2010 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles
2012 Vintage Voted  "Best in Show Red Single-Varietal over £15" at the 2014 Decanter World Wine Awards

When you talk about pedigree in wine, the Don David Tannat possesses buckets of it. Over its history this wine has twice been voted as the best red wine in the world by two different wine competitions. An amazing feat given the price this wine sells for.

Native to the small Madiran appellation in south west France, the Tannat grape makes full-blooded, age-worthy red wines in the high altitude vineyards of Argentina. Don David Reserve Tannat is made from hand-picked grapes, and is aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.

The Don David Reserve Tannat has firm tannins and great full of character. This wine is a fantastic representation of the terroir to be found in Cafayete. The palate shows lots of dark chocolate and smooth flavours with a firm, pleasant finish. This variety is very much sought after for it's high level of resveratrol and associated possible health benefits.
