Pierrick Harang (France) 2017 Viognier Cuvee Balthazar

Four Stars - Raymond Chan "The nose is softly full with aromas of ripe apricots and yellow stonefruits, and savoury exotic florals, unfolding nuances of herbs, nuts and citrus zest. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a well-concentrated core of lively yellow stonefruits and apricots with notes of florals and citrus zest. This is a fresh, lively, bright-fruited Viognier with stonefruit, apricot, florals and citrus zest flavours and a fine-textured line." (2016)

Beautiful Viognier from the South of France. A superb example of premium Viognier with a history of awards and gold medals and one we whole heartedly recommend.
A wine with an intense and complex nose of flint stone, apricot, mandarin orange, tropical fruits, white flowers and a touch of vanilla. Crispy and concentrated, unctuous, fresh and very fruity. Long, deep, fruity and mineral end.

De La Terre (Hawkes Bay) Viognier 2014

17.5 Raymond Chan

Viognier, beautiful yet tricky, difficult to get right and keep ripening and acidity in balance. Originating in France's Rhone valley and when made well is oppulent, cellar worthy, oily and mouthfilling.

The name ‘de la terre’ literally meaning ‘of the earth’, is a reference to both the vineyard soils and the earth brick construction used for our the winery and cellar door.

"Delicate notes of citrus blossom, quince and lychee alongside a seam of flinty minerality on the nose.

On the palate, an elegant and refined balance of ripe, clean Viognier flavours and gentle acidity. Flavours of honey, lychee and light citrus dominate. The palate structure is tight and linear with a clean, crisp and long finish"

Spade Oak (Gisborne) Late Harvest 375ml

A great little sweetie, this dessert wine is in the small 375ml bottle and best served in smaller glasses.

Golden straw yellow, orange marmalade, dried apricots and almonds on the nose and honeyed and luscious in the mouth, this is a very sweet rich and aromatic desert style wine ideally suited for sweet dishes or cheese platters.
