Bohigas (Spain) Cava Brut Reserva

90 Points - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
91 John Gilman - View from the Cellar

This is serious fizz!

50% Xarel·lo - 30% Macabeo - 20% Parellada
Bohigas Reserva cavas are aged in the cellar for at least 15 months, most more. The bottles are then clarified and disgorged.

Winemakers note
"Pale yellow colour. Constant and small bubble. Foam of great persistence. Very fruity aromas of white fruit (acid apple and pear) on shades of peel of citrics and white flowers. In the background, some spicy notes owed to ageing (cinnamon) and cookies. It is a well-structured "cava" in the mouth. Well picked up over its acidity that tenses it overall from beginning to end. The bubble lends a creamy feeling, and it gives volume and softness to the structure that returns acidity and widens the aromas of white fruits and spices that are repeated in the mouth. Its balanced end harmonizes its acidity, and leaves a memory of freshness and volume owing to its light sugar content."

Galda (Spain) Cava Brut

91 Points/ 4.5 Stars - Sam Kim Wine Orbit
"Charming and inviting, the bouquet shows white flesh peach, lemon zest, oatmeal and Gala apple notes, leading to a beautifully creamy palate that's juicy and refreshing. Well proportioned and harmonious with a lengthy smooth finish."

Spanish Cava is always great value sparkling and the "Galda" is no exception!

Winesale.co.nz is happy to bring to you Cava from Bohigas estate The estate has been producing grapes since way back in 1540! Later in 1933 they moved to start making Cava.

Indigenous Spanish varieties of Xarel-lo, Macabeo and Parellada are used. The second fermentation in the bottle is carried out in underground cellars which maintain a natural temperature of about 16ºC all year round. The Galda cava spends around 12 months in contact with the yeasts to develop complexity of flavours.

Aromas of Yellow skinned fruits, apples and a balanced, bright acidity combine to make a delightful sparkling wine that definitely over-performs for the price.

Vincent Baron (France) Cremant De Bourgone Brut NV

This Cremant from Vincent Baron is a classic a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from carefully selected fields. The must from the two grapes is vinified separately and then mixed with a little wine from previous years' harvest before it is bottled to undergo the classic second fermentation in a bottle. This process takes 9-11 months after which the wine gets its Champagne stopper and a dosage of between 6-10 grams per. liters.

The result is a Crémant with small lively bubbles and a lovely fresh flowering aroma supported by green apples and hints of toasted bread and nuts. Then full-bodied and despite its dosage still with a completely dry feeling in the mouth.
