3 Bridges (South Australia) 2019 Durif

Gold International Wine challenge

89/100 - The Real Review (2018 Vintage)
"Deep, dark red colour with a good tint of purple, the bouquet fresh and bold and primal, if slightly callow. The palate tracks the nose, and has good intensity of flavour, although the tannins are rather drying. The fruit is simple and plummy/herbal. A little cellar age might add more to it."

Durif, originally from France and known as Petite Sirah or Sirah. Long loved for its rich dark berried fruit flavours and oppulent soft palate.

Intense deep crimson with vibrant purple hue. An aromatic blood plum and dark chocolate nose with an array of ripe blackberries, supported by toasty American oak An elegant tannin structure of support and power.

Pair with succulent beef cheeks with polenta, braised lamb shanks or savour the flavours with vintage cheddar cheeses.

Clearview (Hawkes Bay) Sea Red Dessert 500ml

Winery notes (NV)
"This is the classic Clearview meal finisher. A fortified red wine style pioneered by Tim Turvey some 17 years ago. The wine has an initial sweetness and a weighty palate, oily with dense berry fruits and plums, followed by an opulently rich finish.

The grapes were hand picked very late at optimum ripeness in a late harvest style with shrivelling, but no botrytis, adding to the concentration and giving the resultant wine its rich berry and dried fruit flavours.

The name for this wine was inspired by the Split Enz track “I See Red” combined with the belief that having drunk the wine, one can walk on water! (“Think Red Sea”)."
