This is the estate wine and a delicious blend of indigenous varieties, some that were almost extinct if it were not for the work of Manuel Lopes de Oliveira and his team at Quinta Dos Roques. They state that the reds from the 2016 vintage are "the best example we can ask for a red Dao wine: clean flavors, great balance extremely elegant and gastronomic. Wines that will age gracefully for ages."

We whole-heartedly agree,  Rich and alluring aromas of blackcurrant, pine, vanillin and gamey notes. The palate is lush and intense, forrest berries, savoury and charry undertones. Incredibly complex and everlasting finish.

Quinta Do Correio (Portugal) 2017 Tinto

We are proud to offer an incredible line up of Portugese wines from the Dao region. The Quinta dos Roques estate is a key player in this region.

The wines are rich, full of flavour, ecclectic, ancient and FABULOUS

As with all their wines; The Quinta Do Correio is made from local varieties, Jaen (40%), Touriga Nacional (25%), Alfrocheiro (20%), Tinta Roriz (15%). The name Correio means post, as the vineyard used to belong to the postman who delivered his wine with the post!

Fermented mainly in stainless, with10% of the wine in 10% older oak to add structure. The wine is held back in the cellar for up to two years before release. Cellar 4-5 years

Fresh and herby on the nose displaying red cherry, liquorice and granite like minerality. Bright red berried fruit with underlying Molasses flavours, Supple taninn structure and very drinkable.

Quinta Dos Roques (Portugal) 2016 Reserva Tinto

From the fabulos, Quinta Dos Roques estate in the Dao region central, northern Portugal

A stunning single site, field blend of indigenous varieties, all planted together in the Peach Tree vineyard.

Some of these varieties were almost extinct, if it was not for the work of this estate. 

Touriga Nacional (40%), Jaen (20%), Alfrocheiro (15%), Tinta Roriz (10%), Tinto Cão (3%) Rufete (2%) and others not named (10%) 

Brilliant deep dark colour, with an intense fruit bouquet showing, wild blackcurrants and pine leaves, vanilla and chocolate. On the palate it is very generous with remarkable depth of flavour.  Meaty in structure with chalky and robust tannins. Come back to this wine three days later and its still fantastic!

Quinta Dos Roques (Portugal) 2016 Touriga National

Touriga National is Portugals No1 red variety, ageworthy, robust with intense flavours. It has long been used in the making of fortified Port wines and in the last 15 years or so is standing tall as a fine, dry red. Produced throughout Portugal, the Dão region typically displays, florals, herbal and blackcherry flavours. If you love Cabernet Sauvignon then this will blow you away!

Dark purple in colour, the bouquet is characteristic of the variety. A highly perfumed variety with hints of violets, pine needles and red fruit. Oak and chocolate notes are also aparent with the fruit. On the palate it is very generous and concentrated with firm tannin characteristics.

Aged for 12 months in new French oak. This is a wine built for cellaring and the winemaker suggests up to 20 years.

"Our 2014 Merlot Cabernet Franc is a blend of three different vineyards in the Hawke’s Bay. The blend includes fruit from Otane, the Gimblett Gravels and the Bridge Pa Triangle and picking took place between the 24th of March and the 7th of April. The grapes were fermented in a couple of small fermenters where they were hand plunged and pumped over to aid in extracting the maximum amount of flavour and colour from the berries."

Gloriously easy to drink this wine has rich flavours of dark plum, red berries and mocha with the Cabernet franc bringing a touch of spice. 2014 was one of Hawke’s Bays finest vintages, culminating in this elegant, expressive and very approachable wine.

Castello di Radda has the highest rating appellation within the Chianti area a DOCG wine, classified under the strictest of regulations. This means a high level of Sangiovese, Chiantis' own grape. 90% Sangiovese 10% Caniolo

Low yeields, hand harvested and meticulous selection. Aged in Sloviean oak for 8 months and then further ageing in the bottle for 6 months before release.

Castello Tricerchi (Italy) Rosso Di Montalcino 2016

Rosso Di Montacino, Baby Brunello and from the same part of Tuscany. 

100% Sangiovese selected from 12-year-old vineyards located at 300 meters above sea level. The vines are planted to soils dense in clay and sand and have a southwest exposure. Harvest took place at the end of September, with maceration and fermentation occurring over 10 days in stainless steel. Wine is then aged in 15-20 hectoliter Slavonian oak casks for 18 months prior to bottling.

A smooth and lightly tannic wine with underlying mineral notes. Balanced, intense, long, fine structure.  Elegant long and lean. A highly sophisticated drop!
