Winery description

"The Château’ Cabernet Sauvignon displays deep, rich purple and red hues.

The bouquet has lifted aromas of blackcurrant, redcurrant and spice on the velvety smooth palate with hints of cedar and mint. The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins from 18 months' maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels.

The grapes for this year’s The Chateau Cabernet Sauvignon were grown on our estate vineyard in the cool climate of the Eden Valley.

The grapes are destemmed, but not crushed, and spend seven days on their skins in open fermenters with regular battonage to more gently extract colour, flavours and tannins. Following fermentation, the wine is carefully basket pressed prior to maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 18 months."

Full, very dark, near impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues on the rim. The nose is gently full and softly concentrated with youthful, primary aromas of ripe, black-berried fruits and spicy black plums, unfolding fragrant herbs, camphor and cedary oak elements with aeration. Ch Tour de Gilet (Bordeaux) 2016 Superieur

A traditional blend of mostly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the magnificent 2016 vintage, the 2016 Château Tour de Gilet truly shines. Bolder and richer in flavor than one might expect bouquet of blackcurrant, cranberry and forest floor. In the mouth a delightful mélange of berry flavors (blackberry and currant), dark cherry and damsel plum make a delightful appearance on a wave of silky tannins. Nicely balanced and endowed with traditional Bordeaux character and style.

As the name implies, Bordeaux superieur is a slightly better version of standard Bordeaux and gives you these extra benefits;

Use of older vines, Densely planted vineyards, Required ripeness of fruit and natural sugar levels upon harvest, Lower harvest yields, Minimum 10.5% ABV, 12-month minimum barrel aging requirement.

Not bad for a couple of extra bucks!

Chateau Tanunda (Barossa) 2016 Grand Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon

90 Points - Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2019
"Terrific dark purple-garnet hue; it shows its place and is a bold expression of the variety with intense fruit all blackberries and mulberries, dark chocolate, lots of herbs and cedary oak. Quite structured and austere although the sweet fruit tempers the grippy tannins and it feels warm on the finish. Drink By 2028" JAne Faulkner

Lifted aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and vanilla are accompanied by vibrant, dark berry fruits on the palate. The finish is long with fine-grained tannins from sixteen months maturation in a combination of new and older French oak hogsheads.

Although drinking well now, this wine may be cellared for up to ten years from vintage.
