Ara (Marlborough) Zero Sauvignon Blanc

This refreshing alcohol-free wine shows classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc notes of tropical fruit and grapefruit. Layers of passionfruit and pineapple fill the palate, creating a delicious balance between fruit sweetness, juicy texture and a crisp, dry finish. Enjoy for its lighter style and low calories

An alcohol-removed option that still exhibits typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc characteristics. We create premium, full-strength Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, before using advanced spinning cone technology to gently remove first the aroma, and then the alcohol. The delicate aroma is collected and recombined with the wine to maintain its distinctive nose. The final blend retains weight and mouthfeel with a small amount of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc grape juice and natural yeast proteins to build texture, without adding sugar. This results in a refreshing style of non-alcoholic wine with low calories.

Giesen (Marlborough) 2013 Fuder Dillons Point Sauvignon Blanc

Located in the heart of Marlborough’s acclaimed Wairau Valley this vineyard produces fruit with intensity and purity. Extensive canopy management and detailed crop thinning ensures this conventional vineyard delivers concentrated flavours. Fruit was selectively hand harvested before whole bunch pressing. After a yeast starter the liquid rested on yeast lees for 11 months in new 1.000L German Oak Fuder Barrels.

“Fuder wines develop a greater complexity and refinement because oak doesn’t dominate. The ratio of wine in contact with the barrel surface is less than smaller barrels so oak pick up is less. The staves of Fuder barrels are thicker which means the temperature of ferment tends to be warmer and we find the fruit characters gain greater depth and complexity,” Marcel Giesen says

Balanced structural phenolics, lemon curd, lively acidity, savoury pastry character, huge drive. Just Divine.

Giesen (Marlborough) 2018 The August Sauvignon Blanc

93 Points - Cameron Douglas
"This is a barrel-fermented, lees aged and bottled aged release. Aromas are of a complete wine - with scents of baked peach and dried grapefruit peel, apple, a touch of quince, a leesy autolysis and gentle nutty quality from French oak. Lovely satin texture on the palate with contrasting acidity. The core of fruit, ferment and aged completeness this wine presents showcases the aromas suggested in the bouquet along with a fine nutty-oaky quality, mealy fine mouthfeel and a long finish. Balanced and well made. A food wine or alternative to chardonnay."

Giesens' Top of the pile Sauvignon Blanc! A barrel fermented beauty!!

A MARK OF THE MAN August Giesen’s outrageous legacy is inextricably tied to the Giesen story. So producing a wine elevated to its richest expression, with meticulous care from our winemakers, seemed a fitting tribute to a legend. Dry and flinty with rich, ripe tropical notes and layers of toasty almond and brioche flavours, it’s distinctive alright.

Fruit was hand-harvested in the early morning and whole bunch pressed. The wine was matured for eleven months in third-use German oak Fuder barrels and seasoned French oak barriques.

Giesen Organic (Marlborough) 2020 Sauvignon Blanc

To create an organic Sauvignon Blanc with intense flavour and texture our winemakers separated the juice into three parcels and treated each one differently. One was fermented clean and bright to create intense aromatics, the second received a wild fermentation which adds texture and depth of flavour and the final component was fermented in oak barrels to create a wine with rich mouth-feel. The winemakers then tasted each parcel and blended to create an organic wine of intense aromatics and generous flavour and length.

Vibrant citrus flavours infused with peach, fennel and nettle aromas. A fairly full bodied wine with generous fruit weight.

Silver medal - New Zealand international Wine Show

94 Points 5 Stars - Sam kim Wine Orbit
"It's impressively aromatic on the nose showing passionfruit, nettle, nectarine and lime sorbet characters. The palate displays excellent concentration and focus, together with terrific fruit purity and vibrancy, leading to a gorgeously long succulent finish. At its best: now to 2025." Oct 2020.

This boutique little Sav was a hit last time so we bagged another pallet. This time its the 2020 vintage.

The 2020 vintage was an excellent one for Marlborough. A warm and dry summer gave us perfect ripening conditions, with the classic Marlborough cool nights helping the grapes retain their acidity. The harvest period had ideal conditions, with no weather pressure so harvest decisions were made easily, resulting in clean fruit with excellent flavour concentration.
This wine has a complex array of flavours, with lifted aromas of ripe citrus including grapefruit and mandarin, it also shows passionfruit along with hints of nettles and bell pepper.
The palate has a refreshing but elegant acidity, with appealing fruit weight and a delicate minerality that leads through to a pleasant and lingering finish.
