"Deep crimson. Ample dark berry dark chocolate aromas with underlying roasted chestnut / cedar wood, pipe tobacco notes. Generous and velvety smooth with plentiful dark cherry, blackberry, mulberry fruits, fine looseknit chalky textures, attractive mid-palate viscosity and superbly integrated roasted chestnut, roasted almond, vanilla oak notes. Finishes chocolaty firm with bitter-sweet paneforte notes. The acidity tightens up the palate giving wonderful line and length. An alcoholic kick further lengthens the wine. Sourced from two centenarian vineyards (Eden Valley & Barossa Valley). Drink 2023 – 2035"

"A seriously dark purple with intense aromas. This is special. The impressive structure and incredible persistence is immediately apparent. While wines like these are hard to keep hands off, it would be vinicide. This is a wine that future generations will be able to open to show just how good Shiraz from the Barossa was back in the day. The early hints of complexity appearing here now will really make their mark given time. There is lashings of chocolate here. Oak is immaculately integrated. Black fruits dominate, though there are hints of blueberries, cassis, leather, cloves, black olives and blackcurrants. Silky tannins and wonderful balance. What is not to love?"

"The charm in this wine is in its brooding, dark heart. There are lashings of rich mulberry and blueberry fruits lifted by ground, toasted spices and red earth aromas, with oak only in support. The palate is robust and bright – hearty dark fruits to start before the old vines kick in to provide a subtle, seamless and long finish underpinned by fine but significant tannins. Delicious to enjoy now but also with the stuffing to improve over the next decade. Drink: 2024 - 2035"

From some of the oldest ungrafted Shiraz vines in the world, all of at least 100 years of age.

Winery description
"The wine delivers classical regional characters of dense, spicy blueberry fruit and savoury pan jus. Next come hints of liquorice, plum, and all-spice all delicately interwoven. A fine grained tannin structure and depth of flavour all show that this wine is made to last the distance in the cellar. A long balanced finish with persistence.

From just two small vineyards on the Eastern Edge of Vine Vale (Deep Sandy Loam) and the Nuriootpa (Alluvial Sand over Red Brown Earth) sub-regions of the Barossa. The hand-picked grapes were destemmed, but not crushed, and spent seven days on their skins in open fermenters with hand-plunging four times daily to gently extract colour, flavours and tannins. This was followed by careful basket pressing followed 24 months' maturation in our cellars in a combination of French and American oak (20% New).

In keeping with the non-interventionist winemaking style we have neither fined nor filtered this wine."
