5 Stars - Buyers Guide to New Zealand Wines – Michael Cooper- Wine Writer

Stylish, bespoke, beautifully presented, small batch reserve standard Hawkes Bay Chardonnay - produced with care by Julz Brogden. A glorious food wine that will blossom with age.

Winery note
"Beautiful intense citrus fruits interwoven with fine French oak and a lovely bready, yeasty character. Soft, fine, creamy & textural palate with a refreshingly dry, lemon pith and saline finish. A complex wine that continues to unfold. 2021 was typical of a classic Hawke’s Bay summer. Warm sunny days with cool nights produced Chardonnay with a beautiful intensity of fruit and fine acid line definitely worthy of cellaring. As autumn approached the season became cooler yet remained dry providing ideal ripening conditions overall.
Hand-picked, whole bunch pressed, natural ferment, 100% malo-lactic fermentation, aged in barrel on lees 8 months, new (28%) and old French oak, individual barrel selection to taste.
Unfined & light filtration."
