90 Points - James Suckling

The history of Viña Luis Felipe Edwards (LFE) dates back to 1976, when Luis Felipe Edwards Sr. purchased the Fundo San José de Puquillay estate, located in the Colchagua Valley, a premier viticultural region in Chile. The estate sits nestled in a secluded horseshoe-shaped valley, separated from the majestic snow-capped Andes by the smaller San Fernando ridge. Viña Luis Felipe Edwards has since grown to be the largest 100% family-owned wine company in Chile. Alto Los Romeros refers to the wild Rosemary that grows all over the estate.

El Alto is the finest of the Alto Los romeros family and is the only wine sourced from the meadow within the Colchagua valley, overlooking the Andes. Premium red blend from the estate; 55% SHIRAZ, 15% MALBEC, 15% CABERNET SAUVIGNON, 10% CARMENERE, 5% MOURVEDRE.

Ruby red color of medium intensity. Expressive nose with a wide range of aromas, such as ripe red berries, cherries, plums, bitter chocolate, and other notes of black pepper, cedar, and coee. The palate is balanced, with well-achieved and vibrant tannins that deliver volume, long persistence and a unique freshness, typical of our mountain vineyards.

18 months ageing - 20% in new French and American wood
