Joelle Thomson - Wine writer, author and wine adviser,
"Martinborough Pinot Noir is on a roll and wines such as this new release from a well known producer shows why. A portion of whole bunch fermentation adds structure and power, making an impressive framework to enhance the delicate fruit flavours of red cherries, red plums and notes of almond, walnut and spice. The wine spent 15 months maturing in French oak barrels, which is longer than the traditional 11 to 12 months that the majority of New Zealand Pinots spend aging in barrel, pre release. This further enhances the feeling of smooth palate texture and the complex spicy, earthy flavours that define top quality Pinot Noirs from Martinborough. This wine drinks well now and will reward further cellaring for five to six years. Joelle Thomson, wine writer, author and wine adviser, 15 November 2021"

This is such a good pinot noir buy which sells for a lot more under its original label.

Bottled for us by a top Martinborough producer - we can't tell you who. This comes from a top site from one of the original Martinborough growers. The vines on this site are low yielding of high quality fruit and the oldest are up to 30 odd years old. This is classy stuff, low vigour, low cropping vineyard, whole bunch press, hand plunged and with 15 mnths in French oak.

Classic Martinborough style pinot. Savoury, spicy, ripe red cherry - an absolute winner.
