93 Points - Cameron Douglas MS
"Aromas and flavours of violets and plums, black currant and echoes of smoked meats. Tannins and acidity add lots of structure with a fine chalky mouthfeel and tautness, the flavours of dark berries and plums are at the core providing the fleshy contrast and balance. Dry, well made with plenty of length and style. Best drinking from 2025 through 2029+." Cameron Douglas

This delicious Syrah conveys blueberry, black fruits and subtle spice, with hints of white pepper and liquorice, with a lingering finish of toasty oak. Full bodied and imbued with supple integrated tannins makes this wine complex and savoury.

The grapes for this elegant Syrah were grown in the highly acclaimed Gimblett Gravels region of Hawkes Bay.
With a lead in of an extended summer dry period, March and April provided the ultimate growing conditions enabling the fruit to have developed enhanced flavours and optimal ripeness. The fruit for this wine was harvested on 9th April 2021 in immaculate condition and balance.
Four parcels from carefully chosen rows were vinified separately. After a three day cold soak to extract important colour and flavour components, the musts were fermented with selected yeasts in open-top stainless steel vats. With diligent cap management, the resulting wine parcels were pressed off the skins, creating three blends, and then aged for twelve months in quality French oak, of which 25% was new wood. The three parcels were then brought together on 4th June 2022. The final wine underwent a light egg white fining and filtered just before bottling under Stelvin screwcap closure on 11th August 2022.
