Five Stars & 93 Points - Candice Chow
"Deep ruby-red colour with good transparency, lighter on edge. The nose is softly fragranced and fresh, penetrating aromas of black cherries, black raspberries and plum suggestions, entwined with a herbaceous core of thyme, pine and spice. Medium-bodied, the palate is filled with aromas of black raspberries, cherries and plums, adorned by black pepper, thyme and a hint of dark cocoa. The mouthfeel is smooth; silkened tannin flows on a creamy palate. The fruit has good concentration; ripe fruit aromas are emphasised by black pepper linger. This is a silky, black-fruited Pinot Noir with good balance and concentration. Match with slow-cooked pork and lamb over the next 5 years. Destemmed, fermented in open-top fermenters to 13.5% alc, aged in French oak barriques, 6% new oak. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Oct 2021 RRP $45"

94 Points Rated Excellent - Cameron Douglas MS
"There’s no mistaking the purity of fruit and vibrant fresh, mineral and floral bouquet of this wine. Aromas of mineral and gun flint, fresh black cherry and dark plums , there’s a violet and natural organic scent that demands attention with a savoury earthy quality. Complex, youthful and alluring. On the palate - plush and fresh, a core of red berry fruit flavours mirror the nose, medium + acidity and an abundance of fine silky textured tannins add breadth and a little intrigue. The lengthy finsih means that this wine is best enjoyed o its own from late 2022 through 2028+."

Winery has been sold and they need to move some stock. This is the Estate wine usually selling RRP $45. Top notch buying it wont last long!!

Waitaki wine is something really special. The original site of Ostler Vineyards' vines, 'Clos Ostler' on Racecourse Road.  Described by winemaker Jeff Sinnott as having "perhaps one of the most viticulturally significant soils in New Zealand", the site produces wines which elegantly express its terroir. As such, they are unique - different even from those of neighbouring wine regions. A combination of the valley's climate, superimposed on the vineyard's aspect, soils and limestone substrata ensures unusual levels of complexity within the fruit flavours.

winery note
"This single estate wine is a significant step up than previous Waitaki Valley Pinots, which are blended from grapes from several vineyards. While already drinking well as a classic Waitaki Pinot, we expect this wine to continue to evolve in complexity with further time in the bottle to mature. It will benefit greatly from at least 6 more months in the bottle and will cellar for 5 to 10 years easily."
