"Aromas of chocolate, baked red berries and hints of licorice lead into a palate that has easy-going, soft and crunchy, redberry and plum flavors.

"A cracker of a wine at this price" enthused one judge. Lovely concentration of licorice/cherry-like shiraz fruit with oak providing lift and framework to accentuate the varietal character.

"Shinglebacks are knobbly, rugged-looking, blunt-shaped lizards that bask in the sun in the vineyards of McLaren Vale. Known elsewhere in Australia as stumpy tails, they are strangely endearing in a reptilian way. These red wines bearing their name are consistently great buying. Deep blackish-purple and impenetrable to look at, this young shiraz is punchy on the nose with blackberry, mint leaf, vanilla and clove aromas. It tastes ripe and round with generous mid-palate fruit of good depth and persistence, counterpointed by succulent acidity and fine, drying tannins. Great value."

Deep purple red. Fragrant primary blackberry aromas are highlighted with notes of crystalized violets, milk chocolate and vanilla oak. Dark berry and satsuma plum flavours fill the palate; shaped and focused by velvety tannins and a fresh, natural acidity into the long finish. A full bodied, estate McLaren Vale Shiraz, expressive of typical varietal purity and length of flavour.
