New Zealand's Best Merlot Cabernet - John Hawkesby, National Radio

This is indeed an exquisite wine. It is of an amazingly good quality a world beater. New Zealand can make very good wines, however the bar has been set. If we all could make wines like this, we would be living in heaven.

A fine example of merlot from New Zealand's finest merlot region.  We love the subtle and elegant integration of red fruit in this wine and just the right amount oak. This wine is deep in colour with a layered fragrant nose of ripe plum and cassis with lifted vanilla, cedar and tobacco notes. The palate has a rich velvet texture with excellent stucture, ripe black fruits and cassis flavours with long full finish.

Aromas of Blackcurrant and plum mixed with scented woods and leather introduce a dark chocolaty palate with overtures of spiced fruit.  A wine that is silky and lingering on the palate.
